Isle of Wight
Sports massage and personal trainer courses for the Isle of Wight

Crossing to the mainland
- Wightlink
- Car ferry from Fishbourne to Portsmouth, and a passenger crossing from Ryde Pier to Portsmouth Harbour.
- Hovertravel
- Ryde to Southsea, about 10 minutes.
- Then by train
- Southern trains run from Portsmouth to Chichester along the coast.
- Newport door to Chichester
- About 2 hours 10 minutes by bus, hovercraft and train.
Check the first crossing on each teaching day before you enrol: an early mainland start can mean leaving the island very early.
A group on the island
Because the crossing adds time and cost, island registrations are kept on their own list. Registering from Newport, Ryde, Cowes or the Bay towns does not confirm an island group, venue or place. Request any proposed venue and dates in writing before committing.
Personal training needs no crossing at all: Level 2 and Level 3 are studied online, with an in-person assessment. Ask SSTA where that would be before you enrol.
Island questions
Can I do the Chichester course from the island?
Yes, if the crossing times work on teaching days. Rome2Rio’s quickest public-transport route from Newport uses the hovercraft, then a train from Portsmouth Harbour.
Does the crossing cost count towards the course fee?
No. Travel is paid separately, so include it when you budget.

Put the island on the map
Register with your island town. Interest does not confirm a group, venue or place on the island, and SSTA can contact people on the list if a group is planned.
